Produce Traceability Initiative Solution

Produce Traceability Initiative Solution

The Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) is an industry-led effort to enhance traceability throughout the entire produce supply chain. The Initiative’s sponsor associations include United Fresh Produce Association (United Fresh), Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA) and Produce Marketing Association (PMA). The PTI Action Plan outlines the steps for achieving traceability at the case-level by 2012.

The produce industry has endorsed the Produce Traceability Initiative to build a common framework for standardized case labeling and streamlined connectivity across the supply chain.  This initiative states each member of the supply chain will implement its own internal traceability system requiring common pieces of information to be tracked, to achieve visibility from farm to fork.

Lowry understands this initiative, and has created Lowry Secure Visibility Track and Trace, to help companies comply with this mandate.  Our solution allows end-users to comply with the PTI by  including the required information on every case of produce, and tracking that information throughout the supply chain.  Built on GS1 standards, the produce cartons can be read electronically by any company across the supply chain that will be handling the package.
